There are 3 STEPS to constructing on Lake Williamstown or its contributories:
STEP #1 Lake Williamstown is under the jurisdiction of the Louisville District of the Army Corps of Engineers. 
The Army Corps of Engineers (ACoE) has regulatory jurisdiction over all Waters of the U.S. Therefore the ACoE is concerned with any construction along Lake Williamstown's shoreline. Prior to any construction near Lake Williamstown, such as Bank Stabilization and/or a Residential Development a property owner must notify the Army Corps of Engineers by submitting a Permit application. STEP #2 The KY Division of Water is a State division of the Environmental Protection Agency. They work with the Army Corps of Engineers. 
The KDoW can Deny, Certify or Condition any ACoE General or Individual Permit. STEP #3 Lake Williamstown is part of the City of Williamstown and its infastructure. Lake Williamstown serves as the area's water reservoir. The City of Williamstown asks that you respect all its laws governing the lake as well as State and Federal laws. These regulations have been enacted for the public good. 
The City of Williamstown regulates, established standards and enforces penalties for certain activities and practices, mainly: Exisitng Docks & Structures: New Docks, addition or 50% repair Must apply for permit Shoreline protection must be present or included in proposed dock plan ACoE must be notified of intent (Step #1) KDoW must be notified of intent (Step #2)
